Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, has released a proposal to reform the Social Security program and improve the system’s finances. The following outlines the details of the plan, based upon discussions with Bush campaign staff, and uses a microsimulation model of the Social Security program to project how the plan might affect the system’s financial health and benefit payments were it to be implemented.
