As a staunch supporter of Israel, I believe that Texans should be aware of all the persistent threats that the Jewish state confronts daily.

We, Americans, are fortunate to have two friendly neighbors, one to the north and one to the south and both critical for our economic prosperity. To the north, Canada and the U.S. have been linked by a common language and “Anglo” system of government that has allowed both nations to live in peace, and have strong economic and security ties.

To the south, Mexico is leading the economic development in Latin America. Since NAFTA went into effect in 1994, trilateral trade has gone from $370 billion to $1.1 trillion.  About 40 percent of all fruits and vegetables consumed in the U.S. come from Mexico, nearly half of which enter through Texas. Mexico is a great partner to Texas. Last year, Texas’s manufacturers boasted $100.9 billion in merchandise sales in Mexico.

Mexico recently passed, what will most  likely initiate a flurry of activity involving unconventional and offshore oil and gas exploration. According to the Bush Institute, “recent estimates indicate that energy production in northern Mexico, where almost half of the 545 trillion cubic feet of Mexico’s recoverable shale gas resources are located, will be a staggering eight times bigger than that of Eagle Ford Shale.” In other, words, Texas and northern Mexico are poised the lead the “natural energy” revolution that will allow more free trade and free enterprise to flourish in the region.

This economy trend in northern Mexico and Texas will also free up America from relying on “rogue” nations for oil.  I have always stated that these nations love our money by hate our values so this partnership with Mexico will emancipate any business obligations we have with those who clearly do not like America.  This will also create more economic development that will create jobs for Americans and Texas—–which I sill strongly support.

But the Jewish state is not as lucky as we Americans and Texans in terms of security. Israel is surrounded by belligerent nations like Iran that have pledged the destruction of the Jewish state and the Jewish people. Israel also faces multiple ongoing “waves” of Islamic terrorists groups like ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Hamas that are killing innocent lives from many nations, including their own people.

Traditionally, Democrat Jewish-Americans in Congress offered unconditional support for Israel. However, following the Obama agenda which abandoned Israel, these Jewish-Americans in Congress have become aloof to the threats faced by Israel, and instead, have distanced themselves from groups like The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) who have worked with Republicans and Democrats to foster strong security alliance between the U.S. and Israel. As a result, both the Obama administration and liberal Jewish-Americans are abandoning the Israeli state. But we, Texans and American of all creeds, must not allow that to happen.

Upon my return from Israel, I will share with you my objectives for 2016 or 2018, and what we must do to keep Texas RED and strong.  It is our obligation to keep the values of Ronald Reagan alive here in Texas and in America.

I Support Israel!
